Spanish Virgin Islands
This cluster of islands is just east of the main island of Puerto Rico. The other two main islands are Culebra and Vieques with numerous smaller islands in the area offering fascinating exploration for every charter guest. These islands are considered a United States territory and its residents are US citizens but its culture is distinctly different from the US Virgin Island chain. It is rapidly becoming a popular yacht cruising ground for charter vacationers who have experienced multiple trips to the US and BVI chains and are looking for a different experience.
The lack of commercialization in this area, gives the Spanish Virgin Islands a pristine and unspoiled nature. Much of the credit is due to the United States Navy which occupied much of the area and used it as a weapon testing ground making it an undesirable and loud destination! In 2003, the US Navy completed its use of the area for this purpose.
